In 2002, ANSAB notably introduced Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification in Nepal, that has helped the Federation of Community Forest User Groups (FECOFUN) – which represents over 15,000 CFUGs managing about 25% Nepal’s forest – to receive the management of first NTFP certification in Asia and the first group certification in the world. Eight Nepalese companies are now certified and selling 24 different forests products in international markets, including the US and the EU. Since 2010, ANSAB is also collaborating with other international organizations on the expansion of FSC certification to other ecosystem services at the landscape level.
